CoastalCrusher got 223,1 million on Catch Up Chaos/24 and climbed from 13th onto 9th place (previous PR 207,1mil). The interesting thing about is, that he came up with a new trailer-strat. Time will tell if this will be the new best strat to use on that zone.

The PR sunday isn't finished yet. Crashfreak throws in another PR. On Dangerous Curve/20 he got 93,7 million but remains on the 3rd spot (previous PR 90,7mil). "PRs 2018" counter is on 14 now.
He also beat his own almost 2 years old best Gamecube 60hz video for that zone by 3 million (90,7mil).

The PR Sunday.
It started with Brainkiller007 improving his PR on Long Distance Destruction/16. He got 117,6 million which was only a 0,2 million improvement and no position change (previous PR 117,4mil). Just a little after LEEK701X got 122,4 million and climbed from 16th onto 4th place (previous PR 111,3mil). Then Crashfreak got 74,2 million on Ridge Riot/8 and climbed from 4th onto 2nd place (previous PR 64,8mil). After that LEEK701X got another 2 PRs. On Glass Canyon/12 he got 81,6 million and entered the Top-25 on 21st place (previous PR 30,5mil) and on Sprint Smash/17 he got 232,3 million and entered also the Top-25 on 2nd place (previous PR 103,7mil).
On the Overall Rankings LEEK701X is now missing only 6 spots to climb into the Top-10. On the Totals it was a 194 million push for him being the 14th Crasher to beat the 4 billion mark.
He also beat the over 2 years old best vid available for Sprint Smash/17 by 0,7 million only, which was 231,6 million by Brainkiller007!
Crashfreak got another Top-3 spot and is currently ranked in 25 Top-3s. The most ever a Crasher hold at once! It was already his 13th PR in 2018.
He also beat the 4,5 years old best Gamecube 60hz video from BoneCrasherMania1 by 9 million (65,0 mil).

Anthony Burnouts 5th PR this year happened on Double Back Damage/28. He got 232,6 million and climbed one spot onto 9th place (previous PR 213,7mil).

And another very old score finds its way into the Top-25 on Pacific Peril/4 (reminder sink-remove). Kurko31 got 27,8 million and enters the Top-25 on 24th place. This score was already done over 9 years ago and it is his 1st and only score for the WCR. I don't know if kurko31 will ever know about, in case i'll leave a message under his video.

I just found by accident a very old vid from Slazzy on Pacific Peril/4 which counts for the Top-25. After the sink-glitch remove scores from the non-glitch scoreboard moved into the Top-25. But this old vid was done with a "truck-flying" glitch and wasn't entered yet into the database. It is a 54 million score which makes Slazzy move from 10th onto 6th place (previous PR 46,2mil).

LEEK701X got 171,2 million on Downtown Destruction/22 and entered the Top-25 on 5th place (previous PR 33,0mil).
On the Totals he beat the 3,9 billion mark and is now only 34 million away to beat the 4 billion mark.

The Crash Mode Protocols - The History of Strats (7)

This is not such a big find like the ones already mentioned on the protocols but it also is one which works on several zones, so it can be called a "overall find" too.
There also isn't some good story behind the discovery. In 2005 i was playing on Zone 30 (Head On Highway) and right after the starting curve there are some cones (I don't know if there is a specific english word for them. It is those red/white colored cones which are used on road works for example.). And in one of the endless tries i drove over those cones without thinking of anything, and then i realized the truck changed. On a more precise look it wasn't only the truck, it was the whole traffic (different buses, boxtrucks instead of vans or the other way around, and the small cars changed). I told Drew22werD about and we thought of other zones where you can drive over stuff.
Those zones were Dangerous Curve (those fences right at the start on the right side), Surf Shocker (road signs at red wall and the start, also the mail boxes at the start), Cross Traffic Crash (road barriers and cones on the curve) and Head On Highway as mentioned (cones after curve). There are other zones with cones where it doesn't work or the traffic is already triggered before and can't be changed. Now the impact of this find can be discussed if it really is a help for those zones it is working on.
There is changing traffic also on other zones which is caused by using different cars, using different versions (console/hz), driving different paths, starting later, using certain speeds on the start and i don't know if also the speed itself while the traffic is triggered can be a parameter. I think i mentioned now all different possibilities to change the traffic.
Two examples how this can look like and which impact it has on those zones.
1st one is Cross Traffic Crash. There are cones and a road barrier on the curve which change the traffic and also driving different paths after the curve can change the traffic (don't remember if also different cars can change the traffic). Since the best strat to use there is a trailer strat you want an Oil Tanker or "big grey" truck to appear, as they are the best for damage on trailers. This is done by driving a certain path after the curve, so the cones and road barrier are currently useless for that strat (while using the Custom Pickup).

2nd example is Dangerous Curve. As there is no truck the main focus lies on the buses. By the way there are 3 different buses (bus with flat roof/bus with bump on roof/bus with numbers on roof). It isn't really known if those buses are different on the damage but they are on the weight (physics). A flat one is a lighter one and can flip easier, the other ones are heavier and can maybe work better as a barrier for example. Now how much of difference this can make can also be discussed.
There are some fences on this zone and, depends which you drive over, a lot of different bus/traffic combinations can appear. Also the last 3 small cars change. Of course could be useful if those are heavier/bigger cars, as they crash into the pile up and can make the buses shake and move better.

Cause the active community was always small in Crash Mode, it always is a nice/special moment if someone new appears with a score for the rankings. This time it is another Crasher from the UK. Inko gaming got 128,7 million on Late Arrival/11 and entered the Top-25 on 21st place. Before he already posted a 60 million video for that zone on Youtube.

Crashfreak got 271,7 million on Downtown Destruction/22 and climbed 1 spot back into the Top-3 (previous PR 166,4mil). He missed a 3rd busspin which could have ended in a approx. 22 million damage glitch or 350 million score.
He also beat the 2 weeks old best Xbox 60hz video for that zone by 21 million (250,7mil/Brainkiller007).
On the Totals he beat the magical 7 billion mark and is the 1st one to achieve that, congrats.

If someone would have said some years ago, that the 7 billion mark will be beaten by someone (and that even without sink-scores), i would have said it is impossible. But the strats and knowledge kept improving and it was just a question of time it will happen. With the recent improvements on the scores/strats on zone 22 and 26 it was sure, that it will happen soon. Now that it happened, i can sure see a 7,5 billion total happening. 8 billion seems too far right now, but would be a new crazy and ultimate goal and if you count in that strats keep improving, we might see it happen some day.
As a reminder the 6 billion mark was 1st beaten by Anthony Burnout on November 30th 2015, the 5 billion mark by Brainkiller007 on August 29th 2006 and the 4 billion mark by Drew22werD sometime in late 2003 or 2004 and he was also probably the 1st one to beat the 3 billion mark in summer 2003.

The Crash Mode Protocols - The History of Strats (6)

Donut Hyper Speed (DHS)
It's been a while since the last protocol. So far the discovery of the RST (Runaway Super Take-off), "Trailer damage", "Late start", RST MT and "Sink-glitch" were explained. Next one is the "Donut Hyper Speed", in short DHS. The name already explains a little about that, yes another glitch in the game. You have to do "donuts" to activate a glitch, which will result in insanely fast speeds, which at a certain speed will make the car impossible to control.
It needed almost 15 years till someone discovered that glitch. In 2017 sparker599 came up with the DHS and i wondered how did he found it. But it needed another new discovery before, also from sparker599. A probably very unknown one, maybe cause it still wasn't found to be helpful/better for any zone/strat and therefore not being used much. It is the "Quick start". It basically works like the RST just without the Runaway mode being activated. You need to use manual transmission (MT) and also release the brake at a certain point. It is a tiny bit faster than the usual "Turbo start". You will notice that you arrive a little bit earlier at the crashing spots.

For a new trailer-strat on Sandstorm Shredder he tried to get behind the green arrows to get more speed for that strat. That is why he also used that mentioned "Quick start" (using MT). Remember, you also need manual transmission for activating DHS. After not being successful he started to get bored and frustrated and started to do donuts cause of that. When the timer ran out he noticed the car still accelerated to 160mph, what immediately seemed unusual to him. So he tried it for another 2-3 times and the car accelerated to 200mph and sparker599 knew he found something special. That is the story and not only in Crash Mode, things are often found by accident.
And cause i'm just here writing this i will also explain the mini-story, why we called it "Donut Hyper Speed". The donut part is very obvious. You have to do "donuts" to activate that glitch. And the word "hyper" came from the famous Action Replay "Hyper cheat", cause it reminded us with the abnormal speed a little bit of it.
What just came to my mind cause i wrote "you have to do donuts". In fact, if you take a deeper look onto, probably you need to hold the rpm at the limit for those 10 seconds and then the game will glitch. But you need those donuts (and manual transmission) to get to that point. But, this is just a theory.
